Kindness. A term generally defined by the Oxford Dictionaries as- the quality of being friendly, generous and considerate.

Seems pretty self-explanatory right? Well then why is a word that is so easily defined, not easily shown?

The 21st century has turned into a world that is fueled by hate and judgement. We have become so concerned with how to perfect a completely imperfect society, that we step on and put down others.

It takes less energy to be kind to someone than it does to be mean. A simple smile and hello can be the difference in someone’s day. Everyone battles their own demons and we as individuals should never be cruel or say hurtful things because it can cause lasting effects.

God gave each of us our own mind and our own thoughts. He allowed us to choose how we express ourselves and when someone chooses to make a nasty comment or judge your person, then they are bashing what makes you, you.

Life is too short to be nothing but kind. By showing someone you care, you are not only boosting their morale, but you are also creating a healthier life for yourself. By being kind, your stress levels lower and feelings of euphoria take over. Putting all that pressure, that comes from anger, on your body, over an extended period of time, can cause mental and physical illnesses.

Promoting acts of kindness in a world that promotes the opposite, can be the positivity that we need to see. From helping someone pick up their books, off the floor, to sticking up for someone getting bullied, these acts can change a life.

We should never let anyone tell us that we are not worth every breath we take. Life is precious and by showing each and every person that they are special, we in turn prove how special we are.

Be the difference you want to see in our world. It all starts with kind thoughts, gentle words and a loving heart.

Ephesians 4:32 says, “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
