Reunion set for Saturday

The Spring Alumni Reunion is set for 6 p.m., Saturday in Percefull Fieldhouse.
This year’s reunion will be a time where everyone can gather together, reminisce on times that they spent at Northwestern and hear the big announcement.

Dr. Janet Cunningham, President of Northwestern Oklahoma State University, said that spring reunion is a great time for alums to journey back to Northwestern, to reminisce and renew old friendships and accomplishments for our spring 2017 graduates.

At each reunion, alumni are honored under several different categories.

This years honorees are David Elder, class of 1962, Arts category; Doug Van Meter, class of 1989, Business/Professional category; Julie Zollinger, class of 1992, Education category; Phyllis Brunsteter, class of 1949, Ranger Spirit category; and James Erskine, class of 1963, Humanitarian category.
John Allen, director of alumni relations, as well as the other members in the Foundation and Alumni office, has been putting in several hours to make spring reunion a success.

“The Spring Alumni Reunion 2017 is promising to be an extraordinary event,” Allen said.

According to Allen, more than 300 guests will be in attendance for the reunion on Saturday.

“Guests will come together to honor our history, to celebrate our present and to look forward to our future,” Allen said.

In addition to honoring the graduates from the classes of 1947, 1957, 1967 and 1992 (alumni celebrating their 70-, 60-, 50- and 25-year commencement anniversary), the Alumni Foundation will induct the 2017 Outstanding Graduates (in the categories of Arts, Business/Professional, Education, Humanitarian and Ranger Spirit).

In addition to the Outstanding Graduates being in attendance, this year’s Outstanding Seniors, and guests, will be recognized as well during the festivities on Saturday.

Also on tap for the afternoon, the University Singers will perform at the banquet being held in Percefull Fieldhouse, and the evening will end with a special announcement.

The event is for Northwestern graduates, faculty, staff and members of the Alva community.
