Northwestern Oklahoma State University will be hosting the 2016 Lip Sync Battle next week.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Herod Hall auditorium on March 10.

Students are encouraged to lip sync any song of choice as long as it is appropriate.

A dress rehearsal for the Lip Sync Battle is scheduled for  March 9 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Herod Hall Auditorium.

This provides a full overview of each student’s talent as they are expected to show up fully dressed with all the materials they plan to use for the performance.

All props, music, costumes, talents, etc. will be approved at the rehearsal. Students must provide their own music on a disk, an iPad, or iPod at rehearsals.

The Student Government Association is not responsible for providing the music for the contenders. Those who participate are not allowed to perform if the music is not provided at rehearsals.

If the student is not able to make it to dress rehearsal, he or she will need to get in contact with Kaylyn Hansen, the Northwestern Director of Student Life and Counseling,  by phone at (580) 327-8439 or by email at klhansen@nwosu.edu. If the students fail to get in contact then they disqualified from the competition.

It is also at the discretion of the Northwestern SGA if the performance is deemed appropriate or inappropriate.  Anything deemed inappropriate will not receive a second rehearsal due to lack of time.

All of the competing acts must be suitable for audiences of all ages. A maximum of four minutes will be allotted per performance.

The first place prize is $200 and the second place will win $100. The judges will select a student group winner and a faculty/staff group winner as well.

The winner in each group receive their prizes, then battle each other to be named the Grand Winner of the competition.

The faculty group and the student group will select a song from a list provided by the SGA. The groups will battle using their song choice and the judges will pick the Grand Winner.

The Lip Sync Battle is one of many great ways for students to go out and show their talents to the rest of Northwestern. This event will be in place of the annual Open Mic Night.

By participating, students are representing not only themselves, but the university as a whole. Students are encouraged to get involved and sign up for this event.

A registration form has been emailed to all Northwestern students that are interested in participating.

The deadline for entry forms is Friday at 5:00 p.m. Turn in entry forms to the Student Services department in the Fine Arts building, Room 126. Only the first 12 entries will be accepted.
