The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Lady Ranger’s soccer team played from home on Thursday and Friday against opponents Washburn University and Southwest Baptist University.

After a well fought game and two overtime periods, the Lady Rangers ended the game with a 1-1 tie against Washburn University. On Saturday, despite a goal to put the Rangers on the board, the Lady Rangers fell to Southwest Baptist University 2-1.

The Lady Rangers were down by one goal until the 85th minute, when junior Karla Lopez scored from outside the goalie box. Lopez’s goal kept the Lady Rangers alive until the end of regulation.

During the overtime periods, tempers rose for both teams. A player from Washburn received a yellow card after a pushing redshirt sophomore Tiana Young-Mauchly in the back. A total 31 fouls were accumulated from both teams combined.

The back line for the Lady Rangers remained strong throughout both overtime periods, and junior keeper Kylee Loustaunau totaled 11 saves for the Lady Rangers. The final score of the game was a 1-1 tie.

The Lady Rangers were back in action on Saturday against opponents Southwest Baptist. The Lady Rangers struggled some on offense and were unable to score until late into the second half.

Junior Karla Lopez had two shots on goal during the game, and scored the single goal for the Lady Rangers in the second half of the game. Sophomore Bailey Jarvis assisted in Lopez’s goal, serving a ball just outside of the eighteen for Lopez to strike over the Southwest Baptist keeper’s head.

Sophmore Yazmin Gomez and freshman Hudsyn Childs both recorded shots on goal, and junior goal keeper Kylee Loustaunau had four saves for the Lady Rangers.
