Three books, one romance, and a dark secret; these things are the recipe for one of the biggest book trilogies in America, 50 shades of grey.
While they may only be for adults, and also appeal to women more than they do men, they’re more than just any regular erotica.
These books became some the most controversial movies that America has seen starring Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele.
In the third and final movie “50 shades freed” Christian Grey marries Anastasia, a romance that has built up and progressed throughout the movie, both emotionally, and definitely physically. Even if you have not read the books or seen the movies you know the notoriety of it. I shouldn’t have to go in to detail, should I?
Anastasia Steele is the young geeky American Literature student who meets million-billionaire Grey when assigned to write a story about him for work. From the moment an audience meets Anastasia they can see that she is quiet, and most importantly, innocent as can be.
Christian Grey, the rich, mysterious, and seductive power-figure, find interest in Anastasia in the first movie and shows her into his world of dominatra. This is new to Anastasia, as she has never imagined a man would want to hurt a woman for his own pleasure in the bedroom.
In “50 shades freed” after a long two movie build up, Christian and Anastasia say their vows and begin there life together as Mrs. and Mrs. Grey. With this luxurious lifestyle in their very own smart house with a cook, a maid, and 4 body guards, they face too many early marriage problems. For example, Anastasia asks Christian if he wants to have kids. Isn’t that a question that you should ask before you wear the ring? And not to mention the R-rated bedroom scenes every 30 minutes in between their personal problems.
It’s ridiculous how insecure they both are for being married and there is still so much that they both don’t know about eachother.
It’s always “Christian you’re keeping secrets”, and then “No Anastasia you aren’t obeying my rules.” It’s repetitive, and unrealistic in a sense that a couple like themselves in real life would carefully consider everything before saying “I do.”
One thing that I will say about this movie and the others is that the story line will keep you on the edge of your seat. Christian is this big closed book that Anastasia so desperately tries to open in the first two movies, and you can find yourself screaming at the screen begging to know his personal issues and why he has them.
This movie will make you gasp and then feel nauseous about three seconds later, there’s a cheesy scene, a sex scene, a sad scene, and then and intense scene and the cycle repeats itself at least three or four times throughout the movie.
When Anastasia gets mad at Christian I find myself always taking her side. When Christian is frustrated with Anastasia, I feel like I am suddenly taking his side. The characters have so much about them that it’s so easy to get invested into them.
While this movie has it’s flaws, I would recommend seeing it if you like romance and action movies, because “50 Shades freed” has the best of both of these worlds.
