It’s another semester here at the Northwestern News which means new faces to the staff and additional changes to the newspaper.
2016 was an awesome year for the Northwestern News as the newspaper received potential award-winning changes to its design and story content. It was also a year of two stellar newspaper staffs.
This semester, the Northwestern News and its staff, is going through a bit of transition period as it welcomes new, young, faces and new creative ideas.
As this semester progresses for us, the four seniors on staff, Savannah Tillman, Bruno Miguel Caitlin Coody and Nick Villalobos, hope to leave a lasting positive impression on the readers as well as the newspaper itself.
Speaking of staff, this semester includes the addition of five new faces and one shift in work roles.
Starting with the new faces, the Northwestern News is happy to welcome freshmen, Megan Maharry as the assistant editor, Ashley Strehl as the photo editor, juniors, Bailey Rankin as the advertising manager, Deitra Wedd and senior Caitlin Coody as the production managers.
Next with the changing of roles, Katy Lackey will jump over to the circulation manager position for this spring semester after spending last fall as the co-sports editor.
For the returning staff, junior, Sami McGuire will return as the sports editor. McGuire did a superb job giving the sports section a fresh new look last semester and she hopes to do more of the same this spring.
Senior, Savannah Tillman will be returning as the feature editor and like McGuire, she too did a great job at making the feature editor look new and fresh.
Returning as the online manager is senior, Bruno Miguel. Miguel did an awesome job at updating and improving the Rangerpulse website, and in this his final semester before graduation, he hopes to leave the website with an award winning impression.
Finally, Northwestern senior, Nick Villalobos will be returning as the editor in chief.
This semester will feature plenty of new and creative ideas, but like we said earlier it is also a bit of a transition period as the older members on staff is helping mentor the new faces on staff, so some minor mistakes might occur every now and then.
We hope to bring you all the best in design ideas, story content and overall quality of the Northwestern News
