The women’s golf team competed in their first golf tournament in Blue Springs, Missouri, at the Central Region Fall Preview hosted by Southwestern Oklahoma State University.


After a first solid round of 356, the Rangers improved two strokes, 354, on day two. The women’s golf team was led by sol returner, Ashley Watts. Watts totaled out the tournament with an 84-84-168 which placed her in a tie for 74th place.


Sophomore, Makena Tennyson had a round to remember her first day. She sunk a hole-in-one on the fourth hole. Tennyson posted an 87 the first day and improved one stroke the second day, 86.


Cali Taylor, sophmore, and Madison Masch, sophomore both finished the tournament in a tie with each other for 95th place. Taylor carded a 95-94-189 and Masch was right there with her with a 99-90-189.


Freshman, Angela Egger rounded out the team scores for NWOSU with an 90-112-202.


The lady Rangers hope to keep improving as they head home for their next tournament on Sept. 15-17 for the Ranger Invite held at Meadowlake Golf Course in Enid.


The men’s golf team competed in the Great American Conference preview held at Lake Hefner Golf Course in Oklahoma City last Monday and Tuesday.
Senior, Parker Rehorn led the Rangers by shooting a low score of 71-70-74-215 for a 54-hole total score. This score put Rehorn in a tie for 17th place.


Ben Baker finished second for the team with a solid score of 71-77-78-226. The two newcomers on the team, Joey Nix and Keenan Hofstad, both came in with a total of 230. Nix turned in a 76-80-74 and Hofstad came in with a 77-76-77. Senior, Colton Person finished out the black and red by carding a 78-80-78-236.


Along with the five member team the Rangers brought 4 individuals to compete alongside the team. Tanner Griffith led the individuals with a score of 83-77-76-236 and JaunGui Angarita tied Griffith and Person with a 236 total.


Freshman, Ben Huxtable and Julien Coulson rounded out the individual scores. Huxtable carded a 77-78-83-238 while Coulson came in with a 54-hole total of 82-79-81-242.


The men’s golf team will also head home to co-host the Ranger Invite on Sept. 15-17 at Meadowlake Golf Course in Enid. After the Ranger Invite the men’s team will take a month long break before their next tounrmanet in Wichita Falls, Texas.
