Northwestern welcomed a new face to its roster of clubs and organizations Monday.
“Something Greater,” the new faith-based group on campus, led by Jeremy Coolley, the youth pastor at the Church of God, got approval Monday during the Student Government Association meeting to become an official part of the already existing list of Northwestern club and organizations.
The only requirements for the start of the club were that Coolley must be in a class here on campus and approval must be granted by the Student Government Association senate.
“Something Greater,” was a youth ministry at the Church of God for several years, but Coolley felt a calling from God to bring the ministry to the trenches. Coolley said the name “Something Greater” means “to be a part of something greater than just yourself, to live for so much more than just the everyday world and reach out to the lost by getting them to know Jesus and God on a more personal level.” He added that “Something Greater” would like to contribute to the NWOSU campus by offering volunteer work for clean-up around campus as well.
Coolley and other members of the group are inviting all students at Northwestern to the ‘Something Greater” meetings at 7 p.m. each Tuesday in the Ranger Perk room whether you want to spend time with God, worshiping and hearing His word, or whether you just want something to do on Tuesday nights.
