Northwestern ’s ninth annual Ranger Research Day will be Nov. 21.

Organizers say it is not too early to begin working on presentations. Undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty are invited and encouraged to participate. Participants may choose to do a poster presentation or a paper presentation.

Poster presentations involve a scholarly paper along with a visual aid in the form of a poster. NWOSU Printing Services may print posters, if needed. If one chooses to forgo the visual presentation, they may present an academic research paper in a conference setting. Paper presentations are not to exceed twenty minutes.

The choices of topics for papers are endless, as participants may choose from a wide-ranging list of disciplines. This list can be found on the Ranger Research Day website.

The deadline for submissions is Nov.  10. Email the Ranger Research Day Entry Form via attachment to spholliday@nwosu.edu. The participant’s abstract should be 125-250 words. Each student entry must be sponsored by a faculty member.

Ranger Research Day will begin at 8:30 a.m. with poster presentations until 12:30 p.m. Paper presentations will begin at 1:30 p.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. Registration and set-up will begin at 7:30 a.m.

NWOSU Dean of Graduate Studies, Shawn Holliday, encourages all to participate.

“Those students interested in applying to graduate or professional schools after graduation should definitely present at Ranger Research Day, since research knowledge is such an essential part of the graduate school experience. Such presentations will definitely help NWOSU students to get a leg up on their competition by listing it on their applications.”
