Northwestern softball looks to build on its success from last season with a new head coach.

The Ranger’s softball program finished with an astounding 41-15 overall record and a 27-11 GAC record last season.

This season they look for even more success as they start the season with new head coach Ricki Rothbauer.

Rothbauer became the head coach in August. Before accepting the offer at Northwestern, Rothbauer held the head coaching job at Texas A&M-Kingsville. While there, she won an impressive 68 games.

Along with Rothbauer, the Rangers also have hired Ashley Wade as the new assistant coach.

The Rangers will have five returning seniors including outfielder Lindsay Thorstenson and pitcher Shelby Anderson. Both Thorstenson and Anderson were on the first team all-conference squad last season.

The Rangers will open their season with a double header against UT Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas. Then they continue road play until March 6 when they take on conference opponent Southern Nazarene at home.
