All faculty, alumni and current Northwestern students are encouraged to show their art at the 12th annual art show put on the by the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society.
The entry deadline is Feb. 25 There has been an update in this year’s art show with six new additional divisions added. The new divisions will open up more opportunities for people to enter their work.
New additions to the show include an expansion on the painting division to include watercolor, acrylics and oil painting. There is also an expansion of the photography division to include still life, weather, and a specialized category of the “selfie.” Valarie Case, one of the show’s organizers, says, “We hope to see several entries from our students at all campus locations, as well as from our talented employees, retired employees and alumni.”
Entry forms can be found online or printed off and mailed to Case or taken to Fine Arts 211.
All entered art work should be taken to the Alva library by 4:30 p.m. March 4. The art show will be March 8-27 in the J.W. Martin Library on the Alva campus.
More than $800 dollars in prize money is available. The top three winners in each category will receive a ribbon and the top will receive a cash award. One entry will win the people’s choice award. People who attend the art show will have the chance to vote for their favorite piece of work. The people’s choice award winner will receive a $50 cash award and a ribbon.
All winning entries will be eligible to have their art displayed at a community art show that will take place 6-8 pm April 3 in downtown Alva at Murrow’s FramArt during the First Friday Art Walk.
