Northwestern Oklahoma State Women’s Volleyball will look to fill a head coaching void after Gene Kreiger resigned from his position, according to Ranger Athletic staff reports.
Kreiger first came to Northwestern on April 16, 2013, after acquiring the head coaching position from Northwestern Director of Athletics Andrew Carter.
During Kreiger’s previous coaching tenure, he earned numerous accolades coaching in the state of California where he was a two-time National Coach of the Year at both the NAIA and NCAA Division II level.
After 14 successful years of collegiate coaching between California Baptist University, and University of Cal Poly Pomona, Kreiger entered Northwestern with a 318-164 winning record in addition to a .660 winning percentage.
Kreiger departs from Northwestern Women’s Volleyball with a 22-37 record over the course of two seasons.
According to Northwestern Director of Athletics Andrew Carter, the hiring process for a new head volleyball coach has begun.
“We will begin the process of finding a coach of the highest integrity, who is committed to building a program at Northwestern, and who will embrace the University and the community,” Carter said.
“The anticipation that Northwestern will receive full active membership in Division II and the Great American Conference later this year makes this an attractive position.”
In addition to Kreiger’s coaching success, Kreiger also worked at numerous All-American volleyball camps across the country scouting the top volleyball recruiting prospects, while also coaching internationally with Athletes in Action.
Kreiger has recently accepted a similar head coaching position in Anderson, South Carolina at NCAA Division II Anderson University S.C.
