The Ranger volleyball team travelled to Kearny, Nebraska this past weekend to participate in the New Victorian Inn & Suites/Runza Suites Fall Classic hosted by the University of Nebraska-Kearney.

In game one, the Rangers fell by a score of 3 to 1 (25-15, 25-22, 26-24, 25-22) in the opening contest against non-conference opponent Sioux Falls.

Ashanti Banks led the team in kills that match with a total of 13.

Kaydee Yukawa and Cassidy Hackett led the Rangers with 25 and 24 assists respectively. Carly Geer lead the Rangers with 22 digs.

Game two was against the University of Mary. The Rangers fell 3-2 (25-22,25-21,25-22,25-21,16-14).

Nora To’omalatai led the Rangers with 12 kills, followed by Asia Pipkin with 11 and Natalie Fahey adding 10.

Day two began with the Rangers taking on Nebraska-Kearney. Rangers fell 3-0 in that match (25-22, 25-19, 25-18).

Natalie Fahey collected two aces while Yukawa and To’omalatai both had one ace a piece. Yukawa led in assists with 18.

The last match up the Rangers had was with Illinois-Springfield.

Northwestern put up a fight but lost 3-1 (26-24, 25-21, 25-15, 25-17). Nora To’omalatai led the Rangers in kills with 12 followed closely by Asia Pipkin with 10 and Natalie Fahey with nine.

The Rangers kicked off conference play at home Tuesday night as well, hoping to break their four game losing streak.

Northwestern faced Oklahoma Baptist University in Percefull Fieldhouse but were unable to break the losing streak as they fell to the Bison three sets to none.

The Rangers (2-6, 0-1) next match up will be in Edmond, Okla. Friday at 5 p.m. as they take on the Broncos of the University of Central Oklahoma.
