football3Northwestern football was destroyed at home 52-21 by the Wonder Boys over the weekend.

The Rangers entered Ranger field on Saturday after a much needed 49-20 win on the road against Southern Nazarene.

Despite the win, however, Arkansas Tech had other things in mind for the Rangers has they led from start to finish, never letting up on the Red and Black.

The Wonder Boys opened on a 25-0 run through the midway point in the second quarter.

The Rangers finally got on the board at the 4:03 mark in the second quarter when Ranger Arte’ Mirua Jr. received the pass from quarterback Reid Miller, taking it seven yards for the score.

Arkansas Tech countered the Ranger score by adding another touchdown pushing their lead to 32-7 before the first half ended.

Following the break, the Wonder Boys continued their relentless pace as they added on another touchdown just three minutes into the third quarter.

The Rangers miller would complete a 70 yard pass to Horatio Smith following the Wonder’s score for his second touchdown pass of the day.

Miller added another passing touchdown at the 6:27 mark in the third quarter to close the Arkansas Tech lead to 39-21.

Arkansas Tech responded to the back-to-back scores for the Rangers by adding two of their own, which turned out to be the final scores between either team for the remainder of the game.

football2When the final whistle sounded, Arkansas Tech would take the win handily, 53-21 over the Rangers.

Miller would finish the day passing for 339 yards as he completed 33 of 56 attempts with three touchdowns and one interception. He was also sacked six times.

Receiving for the Rangers was led by Justin Schanbacher who brought in seven catches for 105 yards. Smith would lead the scoring with two touchdowns however.

Rontez Smith would have a solid day defense for the Rangers as he recorded seven total tackles with four tackles-for-loss and two sacks.

The Ranger’s (3-6, 3-6) next outing will be on the road against the #4 ranked team in the GAC and conference foe, Harding, at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
