Well, hello all. It sure has been awhile since I shared my opinion with you guys. The reason is not because if don not want to, but simply I just did not have one over anything, until now.
So far this semester has only been 16 hours of classes, 15 hours of work. which includes a ton of writing and going to sports events, weekly meetings, and then church on Sunday. As you might imagine, all that can get quite overwhelming from time to time, and believe me it does, but whenever it does I remind myself that all this is part of God’s plan for my life.
Among all the chaos each week though, I attend the weekly Something Greater meeting on Tuesday nights.
If you have never attended Something Greater, or even heard about it till now, then you are missing out on a great experience for both inner being and outer being. It contains great worship time and awesome devotionals that are both encouraging and challenging.
Over the past few weeks at Something Greater, we have been discussing about what it means to actually live by what it says in the last part of Acts 20:35, which reads, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Now, I live a pretty busy life, or so I thought until my sister asked me to come over and help change a tire on her truck last Friday.
You see, whenever she asked me for help, my first reaction was not to say “no,” honestly! So as I went over there to help her, I just thought to myself, over all these past months, I have said “no, I can’t do that ‘cause I am busy, ” a lot when in reality I have had all the time in the world, because that is how God plans things for us all.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I have said no to some things because I really was in the middle of doing something already or it was something that a person asked me to do that was dumb or not that important.
But going back to when my sister asked me to help her, I did not hesitate to go over and help her do that, because at that moment I received her text asking me that, Acts 20:35 popped into my head.
So with all that being said, my opinion is that we should all be willing to go and help someone knowing that it will take time out of our “busy” schedules.
If we would all do that, and live by what it says in Acts 20:35, then the word “busy” would become a less common word in our everyday vocabulary and more people would be less self-centered as well.
