Ranger head football coach Alan Hall is stepping down from his full-time coaching duties because of personal health concerns and will focus on his own well-being.
Northwestern Athletic Director Andy Carter announced Hall’s resignation Oct. 22.
Hall left his head coaching duties Sept. 9 because of undisclosed health concerns that occurred earlier last month.
“Today is a difficult day for our university, our football program and the Hall family,” Carter said in announcing the resignation. “Coach Hall has done a tremendous job in leading our program through the NCAA transition process in the face of personal health challenges.
“We believe he will persevere through this current adversity, and we offer nothing but our best wishes for him and his family.”
In the press release that announced his resignation, Hall said he wants to let the Alva community know he appreciates the continued support had has received.
“I would like to thank Dr. (Janet) Cunningham and Andy Carter for allowing me to lead Northwestern into the NCAA,” Hall said. “At this time, I feel it is best that I focus on my long-term health and relinquish my responsibilities of leading this football program. I would like to thank the town of Alva, the alumni, and the faculty and staff of such a fine institution for all of the prayers and support during this time. It means a lot to know that we are loved and cared for by so many.”
Carter also stated in the press release that current interim head coach Kevin Turco will continue his duties until the hiring of a new head coach.
Hall compiled a 6-16 record in his first two seasons, including a 4-7 mark in 2012. During that season, Hall marked the program’s first victory of the NCAA era, a win over Oklahoma Panhandle State University, and GAC wins over Southern Nazarene University and the University of Arkansas at Monticello. This year’s team is currently 1-7 on the season.
