After a big win on Saturday the Rangers were ready to carry their momentum into Tuesday’s game against Northeastern, but after a tough fought game the Rangers lost 5-1.
The Red-and-Black only had three hits on Tuesday. Brock Randels, Jake Darrow, and Colton Whitehouse were they only hitters for the Rangers.
Freshman, Kyle Moran pitched his first game Tuesday afternoon as he pitched for four innings. Moran was releived by Emilio Lovato who pitched four scoreless innings and stuck out one batter. Koby Hudson then came in for the Rangers in the ninth inning and also pitched a scorelss inning.
After a scoreless fourth inning from both starting pitchers for both team the RiverHawks caused major damage in the fifth. With the Rangers trailing 1-0 the RiverHawks loaded the bases in their half of the fifth inning. The RiverHawks hit a two RBI to extend the game to 4-0. Northeastern followed up with another score to go into the sitxh inning with a five score lead.
The Rangers looked to make a comeback as Whitehouse stepped up to the plate. Whitehouse hit a solo homerun to bring the score defecit to 4. This homerun was the last run of the game as the pitchers pitched more scoreless innings.
The Rangers will open conference play with a home sereis this upcoming weekend agaisnt Southern Nazarene University at Glass Family Field at Myers Stadium.
Friday’s first pitch is set for 3 p.m. and Saturday is a doubleheader with the first game starting at 1 p.m. with the second game soon after.
