NWOSU steer wrestlers were the star of the show at the Fort Hays (Kansas) State University rodeo April 19-20.

Seven of the 12 cowboys in the final round were Rangers, with five walking away with prize money. NWOSU students also hold the top five spots in the regional standing and will likely be off to the College National Finals Rodeo in June in Casper, Wyoming.

Senior Trisyn Kalawaia of Waiakea, Hawaii, won the bulldogging title at Fort Hays and sits in first place for the Central Plains Region and first in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association rankings.
Cameron Fox is second in the region, with Jacob Haren at third, Emmett Edler at fourth and Quade Potter at fifth.

Northwestern men’s team now sits in fourth place in the Central Plains Region. Haren, is in second place for the men’s all-around award.

Other region standings include Terrell Stokes in sixth place for bull riding, Haren in fifth place in tie down roping, Sierra Schott seventh in barrel racing, Lauren Hopkins first in breakaway roping, Jayden Jensen fourth in breakaway, Jaci Traul ninth in breakaway.

The final rodeo of the season is Thursday through Saturday at Panhandle State University in Guymon.
