Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s concert band and jazz ensemble will be holding their final concert of the spring semester April 25, 7 p.m. in Herod Hall.

This concert is free to the public and refreshments will be provided during an intermission.

NWOSU’s band director, Eric Burger is excited for this upcoming performance. Especially since there were challenges he set for this spring semester’s band students.

“The challenge has been for my ensembles to play collegiate level material,” he said, “and we’ve really challenged them this semester. And I think they’ve risen to the challenge.”

Along with this, Burger said there was a greater diversity in the list of music the bands will be playing.

From genre to time period, the diversity is vast. Two of the works in the list were created by Julie Giroux. A New Orleans native, Giroux is an award winning composer of wind band, film and video game music.
