Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s psychology department will host their next monthly movie night on November 28 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The event will be hosted in the Education Center room no. 109.

This months movie is “Bird Cage” starring Robin Williams. The film, which came out in 1996, is an R-rated comedy that is approximately 117 minutes. Some other actors in the movie include, Dianne Wiest, Nathan Lane, Dan Futterman, Gene Hackman and Calista Flockhart.

All Northwestern students are encouraged to attend and bring friends.

Popcorn from Rialto Cinema and Video will be provided for anyone attending the event. Psychology club president and psychology department student worker Zach Frisch noted that if students would like to see snacks other than popcorn, the club would be open to suggestions.

Psychology department chair Christina Gordon, who holds a doctorate in psychology, said the department held two movie nights during the spring 2016 semester, which were increasingly successful with Northwestern students.

Gordon said that she hoped the program would be able to help inform students about the psychology department’s presence.

“I think a goal for the department [with movie night] is exposing what we do and a little bit of contact with psychology, especially for undecided students,” Gordon said.”It brings not only students in the psychology department together but it brings our students together with”…” the rest of the campus.”

Psychology major and Northwestern junior Megan Metcalf is also a member of psych club. She said movie night should be interesting for students because it can help them understand the psychology behind movies and give students a chance to interact and have fun.

The next and last movie night of the year will be Disney’s “Monsters University” on December 4 at 4:00 p.m. There will be a drawing for those who attend.
