By this point I’m pretty sure you all think I have no school spirit, which couldn’t be further from the truth. I love Northwestern and everything we do here, which is why I joined The Herd.

The Herd is a student organization on campus, ran by students. Their Twitter bio touts that they are the official student section of Ranger Athletics.

Well, let me tell you, the student section to the home opener against the Muleriders was pathetic. There was plenty of miscommunication with The Herd.

The people I was tailgating with arrived ready to cheer on the Rangers from the top tier, reserved for members of the Herd, with our parking pass and ribs.

Well, we were definitely shocked when we were told to go to the stands. The rules are in place for a reason, but when no one makes sure everyone is aware of the rules, that’s when people get mad.

The Herd is a great idea, but so far, it’s been very poorly executed. If they had group meetings for the members, where they could go over the rules for the home football games, and make sure we were all on the same page, more people would be likely to show up and make our student section the rowdiest part of the stands.

Social media shouldn’t be the only outlet to reach members. You can’t just give kids a parking pass and tell them they can’t use it. Why would you want to park on the top tier anyway?!

And to top it all off, I spent $10 on a shirt that I still haven’t gotten. All the Herd needs is a little organization. Well…maybe a lot.
