The Ranger baseball team played a three-game series on the road against Oklahoma Baptist University. In game one, the Rangers fell 15-5, despite their early lead in the first inning.
The Rangers started off hot in the top of the first.
Judah Zickafoose drove in an RBI to score Justin Bundy and Daschal Johnson.
Brenden Kates and TJ Kassner both added RBI’s singles to score.
Zickafoose went 2-for-3 at the plate, along with 2 RBI’s and a BB.
Unfortunately, OBU turned around to have their own dominant first inning.
The Bison put up six runs, part of which came from two home runs. OBU would add nine more runs to overcome the Rangers, 15-5.
On Saturday, the Rangers played a double-header, going 0-2 against the Bison.
The Rangers dropped game two, 15-8 despite an early 2-0 lead thanks to a two-run shot by TJ Kassner.
Ranger pitcher Cole Jackson started in the circle.
He sat down the Bison in order in the first, and gave up only a walk in the second.
OBU had a big third inning, scoring seven runs.
The Rangers answered back in the fourth when Johnson nailed a two-run homer, his sixth homer of the season.
The Rangers offense, however, was unable to overcome the Bison as the Rangers took the loss in the ninth inning.
In the final game of the series, the Ranger dropped 8-5.
The Rangers once again started off in the lead. Johnson lead off with a double that scored Bundy, and Johnson once again drove in two runs in the second.
Pitcher Walker Wharton started off for the Rangers and kept the 3-1 lead for the Rangers, while striking out four.
Unfortunately, a big inning for OBU in the fifth scored seven runs, which would be too much for the Rangers to overcome.
