20140831_195559Alva’s two faith-based organizations aimed at NWOSU students have scheduled their first activities for the school year.

First on the line-up, Deb and Paul Corr of the Wesley House encourage all to attend both Sunday school and church services Sunday mornings at the First Methodist Church. Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. and is followed by the church service at 10:30. After the service, the Corrs will treat students to lunch.

Next on the menu is the week full of events for all college students. Every week, both the BCM and Wesley House provide opportunities to be well fed with both food and the word of God.

Starting Monday at 5 p.m. the Wesley House holds what they call “Dinner and a Devo,” which includes one select student being given $30 to purchase supplies to both cook and feed students. The catch of the challenge is that the selected chef for the night does not know how many people he or she will be cooking for. After the meal has been prepared, the attendants will enjoy devotion from another fellow student. Following “Dinner and a Devo,” at 9 p.m., the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) meet and fellowship in the word of God as well.

Tuesday, The Wesley House keeps the events going with an open Bible study beginning at 8:10 p.m.. The theme of the Bible study is the “World Shattering Story of Jesus Christ.” A women’s Bible study begins at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Wednesday nights beginning on at 7:30 p.m., the BCM holds a Bible study called “Romans: The Extreme Makeover.” The focus of the Bible study is to take a deeper look into the book of Romans.

Weekly events conclude Thursday at both the BCM and the Wesley House. Beginning at 11:30 a.m. and continuing until 1 p.m., area churches cater home-cooked meals and host devotion at the Wesley House. The BCM wraps up its weekly events 8:01 p.m. with College Worship night.

Some other notable events taking place at both the BCM and Wesley House include the A.A. meeting and the Momentum Conference. The Wesley House provides a place to meet for Alcoholic Anonymous every Monday and Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. each night. The BCM also has plenty of sign-ups still available for the Momentum Conference, Sept. 5 and 6.
