Northwestern Oklahoma State University football team dropped two games back to back against Southern Arkansas and Arkansas Tech.
First NWOSU played against Southern Arkansas on Oct. 12 at home.
The Rangers struggled on the offensive side of the ball as the only scored seven points compared to Southern Arkansas’s 40 point.
Gavin Garner had the biggest highlight of the game when he made a move up the middle and broke away for a 34-yard touchdown.
This was the Rangers lone touchdown for the game. This touchdown came early in the second half.
Maurice Wright Jr. was the leading tackler for the Rangers with 20 total tackles, and James Ellis had 16 tackles.
On the offensive side of the ball, Trent Easly threw for 185 yards on 12-of-20 passing.
While, Jacob Peyton led on the ground with 43 yards on eight attempts.
After the Rangers dropped this game to Southern Arkansas they went on the road to play Arkansas Tech on Oct. 19.
This game ended with Arkansas Tech winning 14-21, and NWOSU’s record dropped to 2-5. This was Arkansas Tech’s first win of teh season.
NWOSU’s defense gave the Ranger’s plenty of opportunities last Saturday, but unfortuanly turnovers cost them the game.
In the last quarter, Arkansas Tech scored twice from a Ranger turnover. One was from a fumble and the other was an interception.
Ellis led the defense in tackles with 10, and Qua’Shawn Grey had seven tackles.
Cam White forced Arkansas Tech’s lone turnover while Christopher Fuzeme recovered the fumble.
On the offensive side of the ball, Garner finished with 141 yards on nine catches and Easly completed 23 passes for 314 yards.
Torrence Stevens and Kentrez Bell each recorded 60+ yards.
Peyton led the Rangers on the ground with 25 yards on 10 attempt, while Stevens had 16 yards on four chance.
Calion Baker also had 16 yards on seven runs.
The NWOSU Rangers will be back in action next Saturday at Ranger Field for Homecoming.
They hope to extend their record as the host Harding at 4 p.m.
