It’s finally time we take a break from writing stories and filling pages as this is our thirteenth and final issue of the Northwestern News for the semester.
This semester has taught each of us editors many things that we can carry with us into our future endeavors.
For the news editors, it’s taught them what all it takes to do their job, whether that is writing a last minute story or taking photos to fill an open spot on a page, or even fine tuning the layout of their pages for hours on end.
For the returning editors, this semester has provided them with another opportunity to grow and develop in either their current position on staff or a new one, whether that is with learning new layout techniques or developing new leadership qualities.
“We tried to do something new each week throughout the paper, either small or big, and that helped us open our minds up to different ideas rather than just sticking to a traditional design,” said Rachel Emerson, Northwestern News publication manager. “I definitely feel like we got more creative this semester than we have in the past.”
With the addition of the new faces on staff, the returning editors used this semester as an opportunity to mentor those just joining the ranks on the Northwester News as well.
The continued work from both the new and old editors each week has re-shaped this newspaper significantly.
If it wasn’t for the extra effort from the staff members, student reports and the always clutch University Relations, the Northwestern News would not have been able to do what it has done this semester.
We would like to thank you readers for your continued support of the Northwestern News. Have a great break every one and we hope to see you next semester!
