The Miss Cinderella pageant is a two-night competition for scholarship money for local high school seniors. This pageant is a staple to Northwestern’s Homecoming festivities.
The Miss. Cinderella talent show and pageant will begin on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Herod Hall. This year, 14 contestants from local high schools are vying for the crown.
A $2,000 tuition scholarship will be given to each of the contestants. Eight semesters of tuition and one semester of a room waiver scholarship on the Alva NWOSU campus will be given to the winner of the Miss Cinderella pageant winner.
The first runner-up will receive six semesters of tuition. The second runner-up will receive a four-semester tuition waiver, and the third and fourth will receive a year room waiver. The winner of Talent and Miss Congeniality awards will each get a one year of room waivered. The interview winner will get a scholarship to use for books. All of the scholarships are for the Alva NWOSU campus only.
Miss Oklahoma Sunny Day will be the emcee for the pageant at 8 p.m. on Friday.
Day was Miss Norman, along with 40 other candidates who ran for the title of Miss Oklahoma. However, this was not her first time running. Day ran for the title in 2021 and placed fourth runner-up. She then won the title of Miss Oklahoma this June.
The 14 contestants met on the NWOSU Alva Campus on Sept. 27 for the annual Miss Cinderella orientation.
The high school seniors who will be competing this year are Sophie Jungman from Alva, Alyssa Smith from Arnett, Mylee Sims from Burlington, Onnaleaya Avants from Chisholm, Holly Bockelman from Cherokee, Joselyn Charqueno from Ringwood, Kamryn Baggs from Laverne, Maleah Collison from Cimarron, Jessica Davis from Woodward, Autumn Drake from South Barber, Allynia Nusser from Freedom, Sadey Schoenhals from Shattuck, Autumn VanZee from Mooreland and Kennedy Zook from Waynoka.
