As of Wednesday, March 25, reports of the coronavirus cases in Oklahoma reach 164 and five deaths.

State officials are urging Oklahomans to stay away from ill patients and to frequently wash hands, avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth, in addition, practicing social distancing. If you believe you are infected with coronavirus, here are some measures to consider to benefit personal wellbeing and the wellbeing of everyone else around.

According to cdc.gov, older adults and people of any age with certain serious underlying medical conditions like lung disease or heart disease and diabetes are at higher risk for developing serious complications from COVID-19 illness and should seek care as soon as the symptoms start.

If you or someone you live with experience emergency warning signs get medical attention immediately and make sure emergency responders are informed that the patient has COVD-19. Those warning signs include trouble breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest and bluish lips or face.

However, most people who get sick with COVID-19 will have only a mild illness and should recover at home. The infected individual should stay in one room, away from other people as much as possible.

The cdc.gov recommends if possible, the infected person should use a separate bathroom and avoid sharing personal household items, like dishes, towels and bedding. The infected individual should also wear a mask when he or she is around anyone and everyone as well as, anywhere and everywhere.

If you or someone you know is sick, the CDC recommends the sick person drinks a lot of fluids to stay hydrated and also gets plenty of rest at home. Over-the-counter medicines may help with symptoms such as acetaminophen, Mucinex and Sudafed PE.
