Thirteen new instructors have joined this year’s Northwestern faculty.

Richmond Adams is an assistant professor in English. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis in history and a degree from Vanderbilt University in divinity, as well as a doctorate in English from Southern Illinois University. Before coming to Northwestern he taught at Eastern Oklahoma State College and also at Andrew College in Georgia.

Jana Brown is an instructor of history and also is the coordinator of social sciences education. Brown has a bachelor’s degree in social science education and a degree in American studies that she got from Northwestern.  Before starting her journey teaching at Northwestern, she taught high school classes at Enid, Fort Supply and Cherokee, Okla.

Shelby Hall has joined the Northwestern faculty as an assistant professor of social work. Hall graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, and has her master’s degree in social work from the University of Oklahoma. Some of her previous jobs were director of development for youth and family services in Enid. She was a social science teacher in Colorado Springs at Lewis Palmer High School and she was an adjunct faculty member here at Northwestern.

Kenneth Kelsey is a professor of history. Kelsey has bachelor’s and a master’s degrees in history from Oklahoma State University. He also has a master’s degree in art history from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Before joining the staff at Northwestern, he worked at the Lifelong Learning Institute in Enid as an instructor, taught programs at the Dallas Museum of Art and taught art at Northern Illinois University. Also, along with Hall, Kelsey was an adjunct instructor at Northwestern.

Jason Henderson is an instructor of library and information services and also digital resources and metadata librarian. Henderson has a bachelor’s degree in communication arts from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and holds a master’s of library and information studies from the University of Oklahoma.

Lawana Newell is an instructor of music. Newell graduated from Pfeiffer College with a bachelor’s degree in music education and church music. Newell also holds a master of music degree frp, the New England Conservatory of Music and is on her way toward a doctorate at the University of Oklahoma. For multiple years, she has taught music as an adjunct. She also has numerous hours of experience as a church soloist and musician.

Jennifer Page has joined the Northwestern team as an assistant professor of English. Page graduated from Nicholls State University in Louisiana with a bachelor’s degree in English. She eceived her master’s degree and her doctorate in English from the University of Louisiana located in Lafayette. Before coming to Northwestern, she was a graduate school manuscript editor and an assistant teacher at UL-Lafayette.

Jennifer Sattler is an assistant professor in physical science.

Sattler came to Northwestern with a bachelor’s and master’s from the University of North Dakota in physics. She also possesses a master’s degree in medical physics and in biomedical physics and a doctorate from East Carolina University. She has previous experience in teaching and research at the University of North Dakota as well as East Carolina University.

Tiffany Scarola joined the English department as an instructor. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Northern Illinois University and also graduated from DePaul University with a master’s degree in English. Her previous occupations include teaching English in China at the Nanjing Foreign Language School, adjunct teaching at the College of DePage and Waubonsee Community College which is located in Illinois.

Allison Zimmerman is a professor of mass communication. Zimmerman holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Northwestern and she earned her master’s degree from Oklahoma State University in mass communication media management. Zimmerman works for the Northwestern Foundation as the communications and marketing manager.

In the school of professional studies, Connie Jacobs joins as an instructor of education. Jacobs earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in education, both from Northwestern. Before joining the Northwestern faculty, Jacobs had nine years of experience teaching special education at cooperatives and schools in Kansas.

Darren Randall is an instructor in health and sports science education. Randall attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in recreational leadership, and also holds a master’s degree in education. He holds a master’s degree in adult education management and administration from Northwestern. Before joining the teaching staff, Randall was an assistant professor for six years at Oklahoma Panhandle State University, and also spent three years as a teacher in Mt. View and Muskogee, Okla.

Krista Tilley joined the nursing staff as an instructor. Tilley graduated from Eastern Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies. She earned a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Oklahoma. Her previous employment consisted of being the coordinator of the Ketterman Clinical Lab and shealso was an adjunct instructor of nursing here at Northwestern for the last year.
