Rarely does the sun poke out from the sky onto a surface without people on it. But it does now. It’s evidence that the Covid-19 virus has caused a national lock down.

Outdoor courts are often silent during the pandemic.

Spring is a flourishing time for a seasonal shift that extends the duration of the day. This time around, the days are long enough as they are but the Square seems like a ghost town. The empty space from the post office to Banc Central reminds one of an abandoned farm house in the middle of the meadows; the quiet air runs deep and reaches down to the earth. Birds and animals could qualify for human job positions.

Walking seems to be the only stress-free exercise to practice because the gyms are closed. Gasoline prices are as low as McDonald’s breakfast menu. Sidewalks are being used around town—pairs of two, more than three people stimulate their free-flowing minds while maintaining their distance from each other.

Nothing is what it seems.

Bouncing basketballs and tennis balls rallying across the net at the tennis courts on campus have raised the activity level for a few, enough to see social distancing being practiced while getting an exercise in.

The vertical view from the courts featured more than just pillow shaped clouds and blue space. Running engines sound off loudly as the rallying tennis exchanges came to a halt. Each set of eyes were focused on the steady coming of military aircraft overhead. The eyes do not lie, as the site of frequent air travel raise one of many levels of concern.
