Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s junior nursing majors will be holding the annual flu shot clinic on October 22.

This upcoming flu shot clinic will be the fifth annual clinic. On the Alva campus it will be held in the Ranger Room at the Student Center from 1-5pm. The clinic will also take place in Enid and Woodward on the same day.

Flu shots are available to students, staff and faculty members. Students receiving the shots must be older than 17, and all people receiving shots will be asked some medical history to ensure that they can have it. Flu shots will cost $25, in cash or check, which will help fund simulation labs in the nursing division.

This year’s junior nursing majors will be administering the shots as part of their learning experience. Leslie Collins, Assistant Chair of the Nursing Division, said “This is a fantastic learning opportunity for the students,” said Leslie Collins, assistant chair of the Nursing Division. “They obviously get to practice a skill that is extremely important in nursing but they learn the importance of being involved in a community and how we as nurses can help our communities. This is just as important as practicing the actual skill.”
