Northwestern Oklahoma State Univeristy men’s basketball team had a tough battle agaisnt Southern Nazarene Univeristy last Thursday; however, the Rangers came up short 73-63.
Northwestern’s offense was led by Jaedon Whitfield who had 22 points and seven rebounds while going 7-10 from the field. Clive Allen and Parrish Hewitt both contributed nine points. The rest of the points were shared bewteen multiple Red-and-Black players, while Allen and A.J. Jones had three assists each. Jones also had eight of his own points.
The Rangers came out to play in the first half, but it was a battle through and through between the Rangers and the Crimson Storm.
Good defense from both teams thorugout the enitre first half led to a close battle. The lead was never bigger than five points.
After tying the score at 30, Jack Peck sunk a three to lead by one point going into the half.
The Rangers continued to score early in the beginning of the second half, but SNU went on a 10-point run to bring the score to 53-43. Another few mistakes from the Rangers allowed for the biggest lead of the game. Northwestern continued to rally behind Whitfield and pulled within eight of the Crimson Storm, but they were unable to hold on as Southern Nazerne University won the game by 10.
Norhwestern out rebounded the Crimson Storm 30 to 28 adn tallied 17 second chane points. The biggest flaw for the Rangers was their inability to prevent thier own turnovers as they allowed 12 points off of 11 turnovers.
This loss bring NWOSU to a 7-15 record on the season and a 4-11 record for the Great American Conference.
