The Northwestern women’s basketball head coach Brett Vana was released Monday following an announcement by Andy Carter, Northwestern’s Director of Athletics.
The announcemnt from Carter comes after Vana was placed on administrative leave on Feb. 2 following an on-going investigation.
Whether or not the investigation has concluded or not is still unclear.
The only statement that Carter has been released was “we [Northwestern] are committed to building a program that can consistantly compete in the Great American Conference and finding the next leader of our women’s basketball program is our focus.”
Upon his arrival with the team, Vana brought a unorthadoxed coaching style.
Vana only coached 18 games for the Rangers this past season before his departure.
During his time at the helm, Vana led the team to a 1-17 overall record and a 0-13 GAC record.
Carter also said that the search for a new head coach begins immediately.
