Northwestern softball took on Arkansas Tech over the weekend and walked away with a 3-1 series win.

After falling in game one to the Golden Suns the Rangers quickly turned things around in game two on Thursday afternoon at the Alva Sports Complex to split the series at one apiece entering day two of play.

In game two, the Rangers were led by Jordan Haya and Shelby Anderson at the plate.

Anderson got the start on the mound as well but would be replaced by Erin Norrie after she went four and two-thirds innings, giving up four runs and allowing eight hits.

The Rangers struck early in the first inning when Anderson connected for a two-run home run, driving in teammate Haya.

Northwestern added three more in the next inning when Haya connected for a three-run home run.

Rangers Alexis Hayes would score the final run in the third inning after a wild pitch.

Arkansas Tech would close to within two of the Rangers late, but Erin Norrie was able to hold off the charge as she went two and a third innings, allowing one hit, zero runs and recording one strikeout en route to the Rangers game two 6-4 win.

Day two of the series was dominated by the Rangers as they took both games 3-2 and 6-5.

In game three the Rangers were able to put two up early in the first inning and one in the fourth inning as they grabbed the 3-2 win.

The Rangers continued their hot offense in game four as they sealed a 6-5 win behind the bats of Allora Miller and Megan Sanders.

Sanders went 2-for-3 from the plate, with one run and two RBIs. Miller would lead the way though as she went 1-for-2 from the plate, with two runs, one RBI and a solo home run.

Anderson grabbed redemption on the mound from her game two mishap as well as she went a complete seven innings, allowing 10 hits, only five runs and collecting four strikeouts.

After a dominating 3-1 series win over topped ranked Arkansas Tech, the Rangers then headed to Weatherford, Okla. to finish the series against rival Southwestern on Tuesday.

Unfortunately it was not to be for Northwestern as they fell 12-11 in game one and 15-4 in game two.

The Rangers (17-22, 12-16 GAC) will be back in action Saturday in Durant, Okla. as they face conference foe Southeastern starting at 2 p.m.
