Northwestern has many clubs and organizations that host fun events for students. Next week the Spanish club and HALO are hosting a movie night Thursday, March 3 in the Alabaster Room of Vinson Hall at 6 p.m.

The Spanish club is sponsored by Professor of Spanish, Dr. Martinez, and HALO is sponsored by Associate Professor of Spanish, Dr. Claudia Young.

This movie event is free to all who wish to attend. The movie that will be played is “Mariachi Gringo”.  “You are going to love it because it’s sort of a love story” said Martinez.

Martinez explained what the movie is about and said “The plot is about an American: Edward (Shawn Ashmore) who is following his dream to become a mariachi singer. Since he was not happy with his life, he decided to move to Guadalajara to accomplish that dream. When he is pursuing that career he met a Mexican girl Lilia (Martha Higareda) and Sophia (Lila Downs). These girls helped him make his dream come true. That’s when it turned into a romance story. It has received good reviews. As the DVD says, “One Gringo’s Dream of Being Mexican.”

If you don’t have anything going on Thursday evening everyone is welcome to stop by and watch it.
