I have never been one to like watching sports. Frankly, I do not find it very entertaining but I have made an effort to watch the Superbowl the last couple years. This year was pretty intense with the Eagles winning in the last second by deflecting the Patriots Hail Mary throw but I felt the other factors of the super bowl were lacking certain aspects that just made the experience disappointing.
I use to watch the Superbowl for the hilarious commercial but the last couple years I have been extremely disappointed in them. They do not seem to be as funny or well planned out than had been in the past.
This year they had the “Alexa lost her voice,” the M&M who wished to be human and the doritos blaze vs. Mountain dew ice but even being what I considered the best they just went not as funny as they could have been. They are not as memorable as the old spice commercials from a couple years back or the Brady bunch or Betty white Snickers commercials.
I also feel that the halftime show was not up to par either. Justin Timberlake did fine thought there were some sound issues and I loved the Hologram of Prince but I just felt like it dragged on. I do not know if it was because Timberlake was the only performer or if it was because there was no extravagant acts like the giant tiger during Katy Perry’s performance in 2015 or drones light show like Lady Gaga’s last year. I just feel that It could have been more up beat with and held the viewer’s attention better.
One thing that stuck me at the end the announcer said “Jeffery congratulations of your first world championship…” This caught me a little off guard. Do they play team that is not from America? How can they call themselves a world champion if other countries do not play American football? They should just be called National Champions.
One of the best parts of the super bowl is watching it with my family. We had the excitement of watching our cousin Master Sergeant Christopher D. Willson in an NBC Commercial of the troops at Osan air base in South Korea. It may have been just a few seconds but I feel that was the highlight of the Superbowl for me and my family this year.
