The Northwestern Oklahoma State track and field was led by the 4×400 meter relay team and Selena McDonald Saturday afternoon in the Central Oklahoma Alumni Classic inside of the Mosier Indoor Facility.
McDonald continues to improve each week, beating her school record in the high jump in each meet this season. The 4×400 relay team consisting of Jaya Barnes, Abrianna Orona, IceLei Duke and Briley Yunker takes over the best time in school history, with a fourth-place finish.
The 4x400m relay team finished with a time of four minutes and 18.03, which finished behind Oklahoma City, Central Oklahoma and Coffeyville CC. The Lady Rangers ‘B’ team of Ladasheray Bell, Jasmine Bowen, Raven Pridgen-Spearman and Angel Marshall placed ninth with a time of 4:36.11.
In the high jump, McDonald tied for fifth jumping 1.56m and tying for ninth is Hayden Duvall and Destiny Gardner who reached 1.46m. Duvall set her PR moving up to the fourth-highest jump, while Gina Wilson finished tied for 12th with Zarin Goodrich, snagging her PR, while jumping 1.41m.
The Lady Rangers were led by Wilson in the long jump moving into third in the record books. She jumped 4.61m the furthest any member of the Red-and-Black has jumped this season. Duvall was right behind her at 4.41m, which tied her PR and Rebecca Wasson gained 4.37m. Jessalyn Rivet-Tissot jumped 4.20m, Natasha Stocks with 4.00m, Pridgen-Spearman had 3.98m and Rachel Wilson rounded out the jumpers for Northwestern jumping 3.77m.
NWOSU was led by Destiny Chew and Rosaria Milton in the shot put. Chew finished in 14th place gaining 10.59m, while Milton threw 9.73m. In the weight throw, Milton set her PR of 10.56m, which is 0.30m further than her previous best distance and Kelsey Swindle threw 8.51m.
Northwestern had a team compete in the distance medley event for the first time in school history. The team consisting of Mariah Malloy, Bell, Yunker and Kayla Gourley finished in third place, with a time of 13:44.09.
In the one mile run Camille Lear finished with the second-best time of five minutes and 54.50 seconds, Zoe Moorman had a time of 6:27.62 and Savannah Francis moved into the 10th spot in the record books with a time of 7:25.73.
G. Wilson was the lone Ranger to qualify for the finals in the 60m hurdles, before finishing ninth with a time of 10.22 seconds. Others that competed in the event was Elizabeth McMahan with a time of 10.67, Goodrich clocked a time of 11.17, Rivet-Tissot set a new PR in the event finishing at the 11.31 mark and Gardner had a time of 11.80 seconds.
Northwestern had four participants run in the 60-meter race and was led by Orona with a finish of 8.48, Bowen had a time of 8.49, Kianna Dickey clocked 8.77 and McMahan ran 9.05.
Duke improved her PR in the 400-meter race with a 14th place finish, turning in a time of 1:04.89, which is the third-best time in school history. Abigail Cole had a time of 1:11.00 and Marshal moved into the top-10 with a time of 1:11.19.
In the 800 meters run Barnes placed 19th with a time of two minutes and 34.57 seconds, Bell and Rivet-Tissot were not far behind finishing with times of 2:36.53 and 2:36.73, Rivet-Tissot improved her PR and moved into the fifth place in the record books. Melissa Perez claimed the school’s ninth-best time with a finish of 2:53.08 and Jean Dodds clocked a finish of 3:08.14.
Orona moved up into the second spot in the record books for the 200-meter race, with a time of 28.40 seconds, 0.45 seconds better than her previous best. Dickey turned in a time of 29.74 to better her PR by 0.77 seconds, to claim the ninth-best finish and Goodrich takes over the 10th spot with a time of 29.80.
