The Northwestern Lady Ranger volleyball team competed in the Great American Conference playoffs this weekend as they went in as the eight seed.
They entered with a record of 18-14 overall 7-9 in conference.
The Lady Rangers were going up against Harding University, the number one team in the Conference (23-7).
Coach Jeremey White of the volleyball team said, “They proved that Northwestern Volleyball should not be underestimated. I’m very proud of them.”
The first set took off and the Rangers had a slow start losing the first set 25-17.
Looking forward the Rangers new what they had to do winning the next two sets 25-22 and 25-21.
Reaching double-digit digs with the help of the senior Hannah Williams was enough to put the Bison against the wall.
Going into the fourth set the Rangers went onto have a quick start going up early 7-3.
The Bison were able to weather the storm scoring 18 of the next 24 points to give them the fourth match, tying the game to two matches a piece.
Kaitlyn Robinson recorded her second 50 assists game of the season.
Tobi-Rae Barker led the Lady rangers with 21 digs extending plays for the rangers.
The fifth set went back and forth down the stretch, and the score was tied nine times before reaching the 15 mark that gave Harding the win.
“Tonight was a great thing for Northwestern Volleyball.” White said. “The lessons learned and gained from this experience will not be forgotten.”
