The Northwestern Oklahoma State Lady Ranger basketball team faced off against GAC opponents Harding University and Arkansas Tech on the road. The Lady Rangers had an unfortunate run, going 0-2.
The match against Harding University on Thursday ended in a 93-63 loss for the Lady Rangers.
The Lady Rangers kept the game close in the first half, but were never able to take the lead. At halftime, the Lady Rangers were only down by three points. Harding came out firing in the second half, however, ultimately shutting the Lady Rangers down.
The Lady Rangers only shot a 30.3 percent on the night and was unable to keep up with the sharp Harding offense.
The Lady Rangers were led by freshman Aneli Thompson with 13 points, going 4-for-9 in the field. Redshirt junior Jade Jones had 10 points on the night.
The Lady Rangers met Arkansas Tech on Saturday and took a 80-45 loss. The Lady Rangers once again struggled to get ahead.
Arkansas Tech jumped out to an early lead and the Lady Rangers worked their way to within 12 points in the second quarter. The halftime deficit was cut to 39-24 in favor of Arkansas Tech.
The Lady Rangers could only convert on 5-of-32 attempts from the three-point line throughout the game. Arkansas Tech out-rebounded the Lady Rangers by a final total of 53-to-37 to compliment a 46% shooting percentage from the floor.
The Lady Rangers were led by freshman Selena McDonalds who earned herself 10 points by going four-for-six field goals and two free throws. Redshirt junior Jade Jones grabbed a team high of seven rebounds.
Despite the tough road losses, the Lady Rangers will look to rebound as they take on non-conference opponent Oklahoma Christian on the road on Dec. 5.
The next time the Lady Rangers play at home is against GAC opponent Southern Arkansas on Jan. 4.
