The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday, played by Mark Rylance.

In the year 2045 is where the science fiction movie Ready Player One takes place in Ohio.
The movie is based off a book called “Ready Player One” by Earnest Cline. Cline published this book as his first book ever written. He is from Ohio and that’s where this movie and story takes place. Instantly when this book was put on the market it became a huge hit.
The movie is about people going into a virtual reality game but also having a real life, and the creator of the Oasis dies and leaves behind a mystery for everyone to figure out. When I first saw the previews, I thought it should be a decent movie.
Honestly, I didn’t have very high expectations going into the movie. But the movie proved me wrong. With lots of action and mystery’s I was engaged to the movie the whole time.
If you’re a gamer, you would like this movie, but I took a friend who’s not a gamer and she loved it as well. It’s a movie for everyone. It has real life lessons in it with a big mystery with clues and all sorts of interesting things in it with even some love in it.
The movie has characters in it I have never recognized, which was pretty cool to have totally new actors. I don’t know if having such low expectations made it so awesome but in my mind it’s a must see movie.
I know there are a lot of great movies still to be played in the year of 2018 but I could very easily see “Ready Player One” as one of the top movies of 2018. Overall Fantastic movie.

Ready Player One breathes new life into an era that so many Gen X-ers grew up in and remember so fondly almost 40 years ago.
For those who don’t know, the film directed by Steven Spielberg, is an adaptation from the 2011 novel of the same name by author, Ernest Cline. Both pay homage to pop culture that was ever present in the ‘70s, ‘80s and early ‘90s even with a few hints of more contemporary pop icons.
If Netflix’s Stranger Things is liked because of the ‘80s nostalgia it provides, then Ready Player One provides that and then some. The number of character cameos is so large that it could probably take a couple of years to pick out each and every one of them. Even though the film is set in the not so distant future, there are countless pieces of ‘80s pop culture placed in every scene including music, movies, video games, toys and even the clothing.
The way the story is written also pays tribute to the 1980s, complete with some campy ‘80s slang, dialogue and story line which just goes to add to the pleasure of the film. The visuals in the movie provide just as much story as the writing does. The real world is depicted as a cold and dull place with its gray tones and cloudy skies. However, once inside the virtual world of the Oasis, the screen becomes filled with color that adds life and emotion that is not seen in the real world. Even the casting in the film was spot on. Spielberg’s inclusion of young, lesser known lead actors does a great job of allowing the audience to put themselves in the shoes of the main protagonists which is something that a lot of movies have a tough time doing properly. This also adds to the film from the basis that you’re not watching an actor play a character in a story. Instead, you’re actually watching real characters taking part in an actual adventure.
“Ready Player One” is a return to a time to when we were kids full of imagination. It’s the idea of what we thought the future of video games would be like; an escape from our seemingly dull normal lives into a world (or worlds) full of color and excitement, and “Ready Player One” allows us to go back and feel that way even if its just for two hours and 20 minutes.
