Northwestern Oklahoma State University opened its Spring championship season this week at the Midwestern State University Texas Invitational at the Wichita Falls Country Club in Wichita Falls, Texas.

The two round, two-day event got started Monday morning with the Ranger women completing the first round with a team score of 360, and culminated Tuesday afternoon with a 11-stroke improvement by the Rangers to finish with a 349.

Northwestern’s team score was four strokes ahead of Truman State (Mo.).

Senior golfer Rylie Eller posted the top score for the Rangers at the completion of both rounds with scores of 83 and 84 to finish in the top half of the field.

Nikkole Donk was next in line for Northwestern with a two-round total of 177 as she improved her score five strokes in the second round to finish with an 86.

Ashley Watts and Brittani Casement finished the event back-to-back on the leaderboard with scores of 186 (90-96) and 188 (96-92), respectively.

Freshman Cassidy Pettigrew had the biggest improvement of the field between the first and second rounds as she finished with a two-round total of 201.

Up next for Northwestern women’s golf is the Rockhurst Invitational at the Crestview Country Club in Wichita, Kansas.

The contest is ser for March 25-26.
