She is sitting on the swing outside the barn, taking in the beauty of the surroundings in the cool afternoon spring air after a day of doing homework, chores and riding horses.
Sitting on the swing, looking out into the pasture, she sees horses grazing in the green grass that came up after the last rain. Newborn calves run and play across the road in the cattle pasture.
The Kansas wind is blowing the decorative, brown windmill in the front yard. She hears the birds chirping in the trees and the neighbor kids laughing as they ride their bikes in total bliss.
Hardly any car noises are heard going past the driveway on the usually busy country road. Everything seems so peaceful and happy, but even in the peacefulness and almost normal everyday country life possible, people still worry for the world and the future because of COVID-19.
