The Lady Rangers went undefeated in their trip west, defeating Oklahoma Panhandle State University and New Mexico Highlands University, putting them at 4-1-1.
On Thursday, the Lady Rangers went west, with a team from the flat ground in the panhandle and another from the rugged foothills of New Mexico.
Panhandle State was first on their trip, where the Lady Rangers defeated the Aggies 2-1with two goals within two minutes of each other. Mylee Yuill and Braxtyn Turner scored the two goals for Northwestern. Yuill’s goal was in the 11th minute of the game. Turner’s was just at the end of the 12th minute. Cambell Tabor assisted Yuill and Jazelle Alvarado assisted Turner.
There was a goal from Panhandle State in the 25th minute with a penalty kick, but no other goals were scored. Turner earned her second yellow card of the season against the Aggies in the 79th minute. Turner is the only player on the team to earn a booking throughout the start of 2026.
Alexa Flores was in goal against the Aggies, she recorded three saves. Katy Jo Werner had the most shots with four, two of those on goal. Altogether, the Lady Rangers had 19 shots and six on goal, being the most offensive team of the game by far.
Game two for the Lady Rangers sent them further west into New Mexico. The New Mexico Highlands University Cowgirls in Las Vegas, New Mexico, awaited the Lady Rangers in hopes of taking them down at home. Northwestern crushed their hopes by defeating them 2-0 with a goal in each half.
Jenna Mills scored in the 43rd minute. Alvarado scored goal number two for the Lady Rangers in the 50th minute. Both teams had the same amount of shots, 12, but NWOSU had more on goal with six against the Cowgirls’ three.
Taylor Annen was in goal against the Cowgirls, she made three saves in the shutout.
The Lady Rangers currently lead the Great American Conference standings, although no conference games have been played. The Lady Rangers are two wins above Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
Wednesday will be the conference opener for Northwestern. The Lady Rangers will face the Southern Nazarene University Crimson Storm at Ranger Soccer Field at 6pm.
