NWOSU will host the deadCENTER Film Festival Organization for a two-day event Sept. 17 and 18 aimed at launching the inaugural Salt Fork Film Festival.
DeadCENTER will host two film-making workshops in the NWOSU Student Center Ballroom, as well as a lecture by Executive Director and Alva native Lance McDaniel Wednesday, and the next day do the same for Alva High School. There will be a pre-film reception at the Graceful Arts Center and films at the Rialto Twin Theatre, including “Light From the Darkroom,” which was produced and directed by McDaniel; “Alive Inside,” the Audience Award winning documentary from the 2014 Sundance Film Festival; “Best of Oklahoma Shorts”; and “Best Comedy Shorts,” with film viewings on all three screens, finishing with an after-party with the cast and crew. Among the people attending the party and film viewings will be actress Lymari Nadal, who stars in “Light from the Darkroom” and played Denzel Washington’s wife in the film “American Gangster.”
All events are free and open to the public.
The festival was made possible by cooperation among NWOSU social sciences department chair Kay Decker, the Graceful Arts Center and Jonny and Jesse Jones with the Rialto and the staff at deadCENTER, which is helping Alva launch the first annual Salt Fork Film Festival.
