Families of Northwestern Oklahoma State University students are invited to the Alva campus Sept. 20 for the annual Family Day celebration.
Before Family Day officially begins, Northwestern holds Shopping for Tuition at 9 a.m. Sept. 19 in the Student Center and bookstore. Students will be able to register for $200- $500 tuition waivers for the spring semester; registration continues until 11a.m. Sept. 20. No purchase is necessary and entrants may register as many times as they like. Alva businesses also will be participating.
After registering for Family Day, participants will be able to receive free football tickets, goody bags and a chance to win door prizes. Winners will be announced during the football game’s halftime. Tuition waivers are provided by the Northwestern Foundation.
Throughout the day Sept. 20 families will be able to tour the Northwestern campus. They will be able to see where the students stay during the semester and will be able to visit classrooms.
Family Day activities will begin at 11 with the presidential pre-game program in the Student Center ballroom. Northwestern President Janet Cunningham will speak, and parents will be able to meet with faculty members.
A tailgate party will begin at 11:45 a.m. at the southeast corner of Ranger Field. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks will be available for $3 per person. The homecoming game against Arkansas-Monticello will begin at 1 p.m.
“It’s a great day for students and families to come out and support their teams,” said Calleb Mosburg, dean of student affairs and enrollment management, adding that NWOSU officials are hoping for a big turnout this year.
