Kanye West (jokingly, we hope) announced at the 2015 VMAs that he would run for President in 2020.

What if Kanye really did become President of the United States? Would he prefer President West or President Kanye, President Yeezus perhaps? What would he pass and veto? Would he remix “Hail to the Chief” for his inauguration?

Imagine the presidential debates we would get to experience. Kanye: “Hold on Senator Smith, I’ma let ya finish but I just gotta say that if you vote for me you get 10% off the “West House” album, thank you.”

The massive parties the U.S. would experience during the presidency would rack the economy harder than it already is. The U.S. would have to add a holiday on President West’s birthday, because he declared it so.

The thing the U.S. should be most worried about, is giving him the power over our military. Before he would just release another album after being criticized, he could now send the military to whisk you away in the night.

Foreign relations would tenser than ever. Kanye is not afraid to speak his mind, as shown in the past: Hurricane Katrina, the Grammy’s. So any slight hostility would be taken to the extreme by him.

Any Presidential Address would become primetime television. It would be a mini-revival of MTV, with music video announcements. People would no longer wait for the next dance craze, but the next announcement from the President.

Kanye would probably not be the greatest President ever, but he would probably be the best selling. Who knows what opportunities he could open up for others in the entertainment business if he succeeded?

Perhaps there are other musicians or actors that would like to run for an office. Manny Pacquiao is primarily a boxer, but is active in the Filipino government.

People are starting to care less about what the President will do and more about their entertainment. Dane Cook would get more votes than an unknown senator from South Dakota.

It’s already happening with “Presidential candidate” Deez Nutz gaining traction. That is, until it was later found out that a 15 year old boy had submitted the form 20 years too early.

If that could get through and actually pull as much influence as it has, then the U.S. should be very worried about Kanye or someone similar becoming President.

Nobody knows who will win the 2020 campaign. Not Bo, not Nostradamus, and especially not Kanye.
