The art around Alva is magnificent and sprouts a lot of curiosity.
When I went down to the square my plan was to just get people of Alva doing whatever it is they do when walking about the square. As I walking, I noticed artwork that I had not paid attention to before and before I knew it, I began to notice all these pieces of art on the sides of various buildings along the square.
At first I thought just taking pictures of the art pieces were good enough, but I thought to myself not everyone may know where this art is located if I just showed the art piece itself. So then I got the idea of “ART behind Alva.”
I took pictures of the artwork and the buildings they were presented on. There was plenty of more artwork I did not get a chance to get a picture but I figure what I had was more than enough for me to work with.
So my intention with the Photo Essay, is to combine the pieces of Art with its associated building and point out to the community that the cliché art is everyone is true. It is behind buildings, within the walls of buildings or even inside a building if they just look. It was fun taking these pictures and seeing all the types of art represented by each store or building. It gave a sense of culture to the Alva Square.
