Are you feeling stressed from finals and the nearing of the semester?
Thursday April 25, 2024 is your day and here’s why. This Thursday NWOSU’s SGA is hosting Bahama Breakaway.
Bahama Breakaway this year is located in Alva down town square. The event is located on the east side between the police station and the Post office. There is no entry fee to attend the fun.
“Bahama Breakaway has a standing history,” said SGA Sponsor Olivia Yandel. “It has been going on for over 20 years. It started out as an event for the SGA to host for the students, as a way to break from the stress of finals. It has always been on the Thursday right before finals week to give student something to do to destress.”
Bahama break away is an event that holds something for everyone. During this event there will be two food trucks, 505 Taco’s and Wicked Grind as well as a snow cone stand. The First $450 at these food truck and the first 400 snow cones are paid by SGA.
There are games hosted such as corn hole, free for all water volleyball, water volleyball tournament, nine squares in the air, a dunk tank and axe throwing.
“To kind of fill time, we do little games in between such as a watermelon eating contest, water balloon toss, wheel barrel contest and water relay challenge,” Yandel said.
Throughout the night for the competing games players are able to win cash prizes.
“If your team wins, you win different cash prizes. You can win $10 or $20,” Yandel said.
“Will be handing out different gift cards throughout the day from different restraints from Alva. They sign and put their name in,” Yandel said.
The drawling for these gift cards will be done every thirty minutes during Bahama Breakaway. The event will be night full of fun NWOSU student. So stop by for a few minutes to give the mind a break.
