Last Friday several people around Alva woke up to find their items thrown all around their cars and items taken from them.

Campus Police Chief Dennis Kilmer said that Northwestern’s campus had three vehicles broken into that they have confirmed with the owners.

Kilmer received reports of people calling 911 after realizing things were taken from their vehicles. That is when he decided to go check Northwestern’s parking lots for anything suspicious as well as check cameras and call the students of the vehicles they suspected were broken into.

Jessica Schieber a sophomore, English major from Okeene said when she got the call from police she was scared at first. She went on to say that she was lucky nothing was broken or stolen from her car. Kilmer said that campus police are actively investigating all the reports alongside Alva Police Department to find the thief.

“Make sure to lock your car doors,” Kilmer said. “Don’t leave anything of value in your vehicles, because sometimes if people see things of value in the vehicle whether it’s locked or not, they can break the windows. They can jimmy the doors open and take your items out of your vehicle.”
