THE TURBO RANGER

When I was 9 years old, my aunt and uncle, who were influential in keeping me interested in football, gave me the nickname Turbo.

The name stuck for many years. Now, though few call me that anymore, I hope it will describe my time this season on the Ranger defense

As a transfer student athlete, I am looking forward to this season with my new football team and coaching staff.

From Los Angeles to Oklahoma, I have seen effective changes in my life, and adapting to my new environment has been a joy for me along with getting acclimated with my teammates.

Throughout our time spent on and off the field, the team’s connection has been growing since day one. Our coaches have had a positive impact on us, which makes it a fun and comfortable environment to learn and gain knowledge about the game.

I am fortunate enough to be able to get coached by not only a college football hall of famer but also a former NFL coach — Ronnie Jones, who has an amazing football IQ.

The majority of my teammates and I have an ultimate goal of playing in the NFL. What better way to acquire the information and skills we will need to make it than from someone who has been there already.

Expectations are high this year. Last year was a dismal 1-10 record that the team is confident will not be repeated.

I hear a lot of opinions and questions when it comes to the season ahead. Personally, I block those out because from the outside looking in, people will not understand what it takes to turn around a program.
How we train, prepare and execute throughout the week is a testament to what our fans will see on game day. We take pride in seeking out the details and holding each other accountable.

Coach Jones and his staff remind us daily: “Do your one – eleven,” which means each one of the 11 players on the field must do his job in order to contribute toward a winning outcome.

Tonight all our fans will be able to judge for themselves if the training has paid off. If it does, the Rangers will see their first home game win since 2021.
