Homecoming is Saturday Oct. 10, and the Northwestern Student Government Association along with the Homecoming Committee has a week of full of activities on the calendar.

According to the Northwestern Homecoming website, each year’s homecoming seeks to honor the traditions of the past and the heritage of northwest Oklahoma, offering entertainment features that continue from year to year, but seeking to make each year’s schedule unique.

With this year’s theme titled: “Ranger Nation: Ride of Fame” we are in for a unique experience.

“Speaking on behalf of the SGA, homecoming on Oct. 10 will be jammed packed with the parade, Ranger Run, and of course the football game later that afternoon, where we will also crown the Ranger king and queen as well as the freshmen queen” said Nick Villalobos SGA Vice President.

According to the SGA, we are keeping some of the traditional events on the schedule, and adding in some new exciting ones.

“Before those events however, we SGA officers and our backbone pretty much, Kaylyn Hansen, the Director of Student Life and Counseling, has filled with the week of homecoming full of events! Starting on Monday Oct. 5 we will have our Rialto Movie Night. Then on Tuesday is our annual Powder Puff Football game. Wednesday is our first ever Tailgate on the Tiers. Thursday we will be holding the first ever Ride of Fame Picture Challenge. Finally, on Friday, we will be having the Rally-Round-the-Ranger event” said Villalobos.

According to the website traditionally at the same time as homecoming week Northwestern offers a scholarship pageant for high school seniors to represent their communities takes place on Thursday and Friday of the week.

“Other festivities that will be going on that week is the Miss Cinderella Talent Show at 7:30 p.m. Thursday Oct. 8 in the Herod Hall auditorium and the Miss Cinderella Pageant at 8 p.m. Friday in the Herod Hall auditorium” said Villalobos.
